What this Stake review covers
This Stake review is written for players who want a straight answer before they deposit: who runs Stake, whether it is legitimate, what you can play, and how money moves in and out. We are an independent site and our mirror links are affiliate links, but nothing in this review is written by Stake and we point out the weak spots as plainly as the strong ones.
Stake launched in 2017 and has grown into one of the largest crypto casinos and sportsbooks online. Everything sits behind one account and one balance: slots, live dealer tables, Stake's own provably fair games and a full sportsbook. If the main address will not load where you are, the same account works on any official mirror on our live mirror list.
Is Stake legit? Licence and ownership
Stake.com is operated by Medium Rare N.V., a company registered in Curaçao. For its first years Stake ran under a sublicence from Antillephone N.V., which was how Curaçao licensing worked under the old master-licence system. After Curaçao's gaming reform replaced master licences with direct licences from the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA), Medium Rare N.V. obtained its own licence, number OGL/2024/1451/0918. The certificate is widely reported as issued in 2025 and active. You can confirm the current status yourself by clicking the licence seal in Stake's footer or searching the CGA's public register.
What a Curaçao licence means for you
A Curaçao licence is real regulation, but it is lighter than the UK Gambling Commission or the Malta Gaming Authority. In practice that means:
- The operator must meet licence conditions on fairness, anti-money-laundering checks and complaints handling.
- There is no national compensation scheme if something goes wrong, and dispute routes are slower than with a local regulator.
- The licence does not make Stake legal in your country. Stake blocks players from a list of restricted countries, which it publishes in its terms and which changes over time.
Track record
Stake has paid out at scale for years and is one of the most visible brands in the industry through sports sponsorships and streamer partnerships. Visibility is not proof of good conduct, but a long history of processing withdrawals is a meaningful signal. The most common complaints we see are about verification requests on large withdrawals and accounts closed for breaking country rules, both covered below.
Casino games
The Stake casino lists thousands of games. Slots make up most of the library, from large studios such as Pragmatic Play, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Play'n GO, Push Gaming, Relax Gaming and many more, plus a growing set of Stake-exclusive titles made with studio partners.
Useful things to know before you play:
- Filters matter. You can sort by provider, new releases and features such as bonus buys. Bonus-buy availability depends on your country.
- RTP can vary by casino. Many studios ship the same slot in several RTP versions. Open the game's information panel to see the RTP of the version you are actually playing.
- Demo mode. Many games can be tried without staking real money, which is the cheapest way to learn how a slot behaves.
Table games include several versions of blackjack, roulette, baccarat and video poker, alongside the live casino covered below.
Stake Originals
Stake Originals are games Stake builds in-house. They are simple, fast and provably fair, which means you can check every result yourself using the server seed, your client seed and the bet's nonce. Our glossary explains those terms.
The best-known Originals each have their own guide on this site:
- Dice: pick a target and a side, and the multiplier follows from your win chance.
- Crash: a multiplier rises until it crashes; cash out before it does.
- Limbo: set a target multiplier and see whether the round reaches it.
- Mines: reveal tiles on a grid and avoid the mines.
- Plinko: drop a ball through pegs into multiplier slots, with adjustable risk and rows.
Others include Keno, Wheel, Hilo, Blackjack, Baccarat, Diamonds and Dragon Tower. Originals carry a low, published house edge, often around 1% for games like Dice and Limbo. A low edge does not stop you losing; it only means the expected cost per bet is small. Fast games with auto-bet can burn through a balance quickly, so set limits first.
Live casino
The live casino streams real dealers from studios such as Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live, plus tables branded for Stake. You will find blackjack (including higher-limit tables), many roulette variants, baccarat, and game shows like Crazy Time, Monopoly Live and Lightning-style titles.
Live tables have fixed minimum and maximum bets shown on each lobby tile. Popular blackjack tables fill up at peak times; the "bet behind" option lets you follow a seated player when no seat is free.
Sportsbook
Stake's sportsbook covers football, basketball, tennis, American football, cricket, ice hockey, MMA and boxing, and a deep esports section with Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends and Valorant. Both pre-match and live betting are available, with live statistics and, on some events, streams.
Features worth knowing:
- Bet builder on many football and basketball matches, combining several markets from one game into a single bet.
- Cash-out on many markets, letting you settle early for a value based on current odds.
- Odds formats can be switched between decimal, fractional and American in settings. Our glossary explains each.
- Sports promotions run around major tournaments; see our bonus code guide.
Sports bets also count towards VIP progress at a higher rate than casino bets, according to widely reported figures. More on that in our Stake VIP guide.
Payments
Stake is crypto-first. Each coin has its own wallet inside your account, and the cashier shows a deposit address (and a memo or tag where the network needs one). Widely supported coins include Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Tether (USDT), USD Coin, Dogecoin, XRP, Tron, BNB and others; the exact list and the networks for each coin are shown in the cashier and change from time to time.
Our step-by-step deposit guides cover the details for the three most common coins: Bitcoin, Litecoin and USDT.
Points to watch:
- Pick the right network. Sending a coin on a network Stake does not support for that wallet can mean lost funds. USDT in particular exists on several networks.
- Memos and tags. Coins such as XRP need a destination tag; leaving it out delays or loses the deposit.
- Buying crypto. If you hold no crypto, partners inside the cashier let you buy it with a card or other local methods. The partner, not Stake, sets fees and runs its own checks.
- Local currency methods. In some countries Stake offers local fiat options. Availability depends on where you live.
- Minimums. Minimum deposits and withdrawals differ by coin and are shown in the cashier.
Withdrawal speed
Crypto withdrawals are usually approved quickly, often within minutes. Arrival time after that depends on the coin's network: Litecoin, Tron-based USDT and similar networks typically settle fast, while Bitcoin can take longer when the network is busy. Network fees are deducted from the amount you withdraw and are shown before you confirm.
Delays usually come from three places: a first withdrawal that triggers verification, a large amount that needs a manual review, or a busy blockchain. Completing verification early removes the most common cause.
KYC and verification
Stake uses tiered verification. Basic levels ask for personal details; higher levels ask for a photo ID, proof of address and sometimes a selfie or proof of where your funds come from. Stake can request verification at any time, and in practice it often does before a large or first withdrawal, or when account activity changes.
Tips that save time:
- Use your real details from the start. Mismatched names or dates of birth are the most common reason checks stall.
- Upload clear, uncropped documents with all four corners visible.
- Keep your account to one person, one device setup and one country you are allowed to play from. Logging in from different countries or through a VPN often triggers extra checks or closure.
VIP and rakeback
The VIP programme is free and automatic. Your level depends on the total amount you have wagered, not on deposits. Rewards include rakeback, level-up bonuses, weekly and monthly bonuses, reloads at higher levels and a dedicated VIP host at the top. Levels, rewards and the reported thresholds are in our Stake VIP guide. Never chase a level: rewards are a small share of what you wager.
Customer support
Live chat runs 24/7 from the help icon on any page, with email for longer cases and a help centre covering accounts, payments, verification and responsible gambling. Chat answers are usually quick for routine questions; verification and withdrawal reviews take longer because they go to specialised teams.
For faster answers, include your username, the coin, the amount and the transaction ID (TXID) when asking about a payment.
Mobile
Stake runs in the mobile browser and is built responsive, so casino, sportsbook and cashier work the same as on desktop. You can add it to your home screen for an app-like shortcut. Mirrors behave the same on mobile; if the main address fails on mobile data, try a mirror from our live mirror list or check whether Stake is down.
Security and account safety
- Two-factor authentication (2FA). Turn it on in settings; it is the single best protection against stolen passwords.
- Phishing. Fake Stake sites copy the design to steal logins and deposits. Only use addresses from a trusted source such as our live list, and read why Stake mirror domains change.
- Deposit addresses. Copy the address from the cashier each time and check the first and last characters after pasting.
- Sessions. Review active sessions in settings and log out devices you do not recognise.
Pros and cons
- Casino, live casino, Originals and sportsbook in one account and one balance
- Provably fair in-house games with low published house edges

- Free VIP programme with rakeback from the first level
- 24/7 live chat
- Not available in many countries; country rules are strict
- Crypto-first cashier has a learning curve for new players
- Curaçao licence offers less protection than local regulators
- Verification can be requested at withdrawal time
- Fast games and auto-bet make overspending easy
Who Stake suits
Stake suits players who already use crypto or are willing to learn, who want casino and sports in one place, and who value provably fair games and quick payouts. It suits less well if you want the strongest consumer protection, prefer paying by bank card directly, or live somewhere Stake does not accept players.
If you are comparing, see how it stacks up in Stake vs Roobet, Stake vs BC.Game, Stake vs Rollbit and Stake vs Shuffle. Whatever you choose, set limits before you play; our responsible gambling guide shows how.
FAQ
Is Stake legit?
Stake is operated by Medium Rare N.V. and holds Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/1451/0918. It has operated since 2017 and processes withdrawals at scale. The licence is lighter than UK or Malta regulation, so check the terms and your local law before you sign up.
Who owns Stake?
Stake.com is run by Medium Rare N.V., a company registered in Curaçao. The brand was founded by Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani. A separate company runs Stake.us, a sweepstakes site for the United States.
Is Stake available in my country?
It depends. Stake publishes a list of restricted countries in its terms and blocks sign-ups from them. Using a VPN to get around that breaks the terms and can lead to a closed account, so check the list and your local law first.
How long do Stake withdrawals take?
Approval is usually quick, often minutes. Arrival depends on the coin's network: fast networks settle in minutes, while Bitcoin can take longer when busy. First or large withdrawals can be held for verification.
Does Stake require KYC?
Stake can ask for verification at any time. Smaller players may play for a while on basic details, but ID and proof of address are often requested before larger or first withdrawals. Completing it early avoids delays.
Are Stake Originals fair?
Stake Originals are provably fair: each result comes from a server seed, your client seed and a nonce, and you can verify past bets. That proves results were not changed after you bet. It does not change the house edge.
Can I use Stake on my phone?
Yes. Stake works in any modern mobile browser with the full casino, sportsbook and cashier. You can add it to your home screen as a shortcut.
Is my account the same on a Stake mirror?
Yes. Official mirrors are other addresses for the same site, so your login, balance, bonuses and VIP progress are identical. Only use mirrors from a trusted list to avoid phishing copies.
