Stake Cricket Betting: formats, markets and tournaments

Cricket betting at Stake covers Test matches, ODIs, T20 leagues and international tournaments, with match winner, top batter, runs and wickets markets. Here is how the formats, markets and rain rules affect your bets.

Cricket betting on Stake

Cricket betting at Stake is part of the Stake Sportsbook. It lists international series, domestic leagues and franchise competitions, with pre-match and live odds on the main markets and a deeper menu of runs, wickets and player props on major matches.

Bets are placed from your crypto balance. If you are setting up, see the deposit guides for Bitcoin, Litecoin and USDT. If your usual Stake address does not load, the live mirror list shows working addresses with response times measured in your browser.

Cricket is the sport where format and weather change the rules most, so read the match page before you bet.

Formats and how they affect markets

Test cricket

Five days, two innings per side and three possible results: win, loss or draw. Because of the draw, match markets are three-way, and the draw price is shorter when weather or a slow pitch is a factor.

One-day internationals

Fifty overs per side, with two outcomes in most markets and a tie as a rare third. Totals, partnership props and top batter markets are popular.

Twenty20

Twenty overs per side and a three-hour match. High variance, big hitting and quick swings, so prices move fast. T20 markets include powerplay runs, sixes and top batter for each side.

Prices for the same two teams are very different in each format because the shorter the game, the more luck matters.

Common cricket markets

  • Match winner: the simplest bet. Test matches include a draw option.
  • Toss winner: a near coin flip, priced close to even.
  • Top batter: who scores the most runs for a team or the match.
  • Innings and team runs: over/under a total, often with a session or over-by-over version in Tests and T20s.
  • Player runs and wickets: over/under lines on an individual's tally. If a player is not in the final eleven, the bet is normally void.
  • Fall of the first wicket and opening partnerships: popular live markets.
  • Series winner and tournament outrights: futures that tie up funds. IPL and World Cup winner markets open long before the first match.

Parlays combine matches into one bet. Combining cricket matches is attractive because the odds multiply, but as with every sport the margin compounds with each leg; see the sportsbook guide for how multis work.

Rain, ties and settlement

Weather is the biggest settlement question in cricket. If a match is shortened, the result is normally decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method (DLS), and most match winner bets stand on the official result. If a match is abandoned without a result, match winner bets are normally void with stakes returned, except in Tests where an unfinished match is a draw. Total-runs and player markets often require a minimum number of overs to be bowled for the bet to stand.

Ties in limited-overs games may be decided by a Super Over. Markets say whether the Super Over counts; many do not. In Test matches, a tie is extremely rare, and a draw is far more common. Because the details vary by market and tournament, read the rule line attached to the market, especially for futures, which often assume the match is played to completion.

Seasons and tournaments

Cricket runs nearly year-round. International series follow the Future Tours Programme, and the IPL generally runs in spring, the Big Bash in the southern summer, the Hundred and other leagues in the northern summer, and ICC events such as the T20 World Cup and the Cricket World Cup in set windows. Start times differ widely by country, and some matches begin at night in Europe. Stake lists the start time in your local time on each fixture.

Live betting

Live cricket is the sport where in-play markets shine: next-over runs, next wicket method, batter milestones and the match winner shift ball by ball. Markets suspend around wickets, boundaries, reviews and rain breaks. Be aware of broadcast delay: a stream can run several seconds behind the data feed, and a bet placed from what you see on a delayed stream can be declined. Cash out is available on many bets and is explained in the sportsbook guide.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Test, ODI and T20 coverage with many props
  • IPL and major tournaments listed in season
  • Ball-by-ball live markets
  • Crypto stakes and payouts
  • Same account as the casino
Cons
  • Rain and DLS rules vary by market
  • Player props void if a player is not selected
  • Stream delays affect live bets
  • Limits are lower on smaller leagues
  • Betting on cricket is restricted in some countries

Play cricket bets with limits

Long matches and endless markets make cricket easy to over-bet. Choose a stake you can lose without consequences, avoid doubling up after a bad session and take breaks, especially during long T20 leagues. Stake provides limits and self-exclusion; see responsible gambling. You must be 18 or over, or the legal age where you live if higher.

FAQ

Does Stake offer cricket betting?

Yes. Cricket is listed in the Sports tab with Test, ODI and T20 matches and major tournaments when in season.

Can I bet on the IPL at Stake?

IPL matches and outright markets are typically listed during the season, subject to availability in your country.

What happens to my bet if rain stops play?

If the match is decided by DLS, most match winner bets stand on the official result. If it is abandoned without a result, bets are normally void, except in Test cricket where an unfinished match is a draw.

Is there a draw option in cricket betting?

In Test matches, yes, so match markets have three outcomes. Limited-overs matches normally have two, with a tie as a rare third.

What is a top batter bet?

It is a bet on which batter scores the most runs for a team or in the match. Dead heats are handled under the market rules.

What happens if my player is not in the playing eleven?

Player props are normally void if the player does not take the field, but read the rule for the specific market.

Can I bet on cricket live?

Yes. In-play markets update ball by ball or over by over, and markets suspend after wickets and boundaries.

Do cricket bets count towards VIP?

Sports wagering counts towards VIP progress; see the [VIP guide](/stake-vip).

Is cricket betting legal where I live?

It depends on the country or state. Stake's terms list where it does not accept players, and a mirror or VPN does not change that. Follow your local law.
