Stake app not working?

Stake app not working on your phone? Stake.com runs as a home-screen web app rather than a store download, so most faults come down to an old address, the browser behind it or your network. Here is how to fix each one on Android and iPhone.

Is there an official Stake app?

For most players, no. Stake.com does not offer a native app in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, and it does not publish an APK file for Android. What people call "the Stake app" is the mobile website installed on the home screen. Stake's own guidance describes exactly that: open the site in your phone's browser and use "Install app" or "Add to Home Screen". The result is a web app (sometimes called a PWA) that opens full screen with its own icon, but it is still the same site running inside your phone's browser engine.

So when the Stake app is not working, there is nothing to update in a store. Almost every fault comes from the address the shortcut points to, the browser behind it, or your network.

What you may see in the stores

  • Stake.us. The US sweepstakes brand is a separate company with separate accounts, and it has its own iOS app. It is not Stake.com, and a Stake.com login will not work in it.
  • Local licensed brands. In a few regulated markets Stake operates under a local licence on a separate local site. Any app for those markets is tied to that site and its own accounts. If you see one, only trust it if the official site for your country links to it directly.
  • Everything else. Store listings and APK sites using the Stake name and logo without a link from Stake itself are not official. See the warning further down this page.

The home-screen version does everything the full site does: same account, balance, cashier, games and two-factor authentication.

Adding Stake to your home screen

Creating the shortcut takes under a minute. The important detail is which address you create it from: the icon opens whatever address was in the address bar when you added it. If your network blocks stake.com, build the shortcut from a working mirror in the live list instead, so it opens straight onto an address that responds for you.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. Open Safari. Other browsers on iOS may not offer the full option, so use Safari for this.
  2. Go to stake.com or a working mirror and wait for the page to load fully.
  3. Tap the Share button (the square with an upward arrow).
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen. On recent iOS versions, leave Open as Web App switched on if you see it.
  5. Name the icon, for example "Stake" or "Stake mirror", and tap Add.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Chrome and load stake.com or a working mirror.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top right.
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen. The wording depends on your Chrome version.
  4. Confirm. The icon appears on your home screen and usually in the app drawer too.

Samsung Internet, Firefox and Edge have similar options. The shortcut runs in whichever browser installed it, so pick one you keep updated.

Shortcuts and mirrors

Logins are stored per address. A shortcut made from a mirror keeps you signed in on that mirror, but if you later switch to a different mirror you will need to log in again there. Keep one shortcut per address you use and delete the rest.

App or home-screen shortcut won't open

When the icon opens to a blank screen, an endless spinner or a "can't reach this page" message, work through these in order.

  1. Check whether the address still works. Open your browser normally and type the address the shortcut uses. If it fails there too, the shortcut is not the problem. Check the live status or the mirror list above. If the main address is down for you but mirrors respond, your network is blocking or slowing that address.
  2. Replace a stale shortcut. Mirror addresses change over time (here is why). A shortcut built months ago may point to an address that has since been retired or blocked. Delete the icon, load a working mirror from the list, and add it again.
  3. Clear the site's cache and data. On iPhone, go to Settings › Apps › Safari › Advanced › Website Data (on older iOS: Settings › Safari › Advanced › Website Data), search for the address and delete it. On Android, open Chrome, go to Settings › Site settings › All sites, choose the address and tap Clear and reset. You will need to log in again afterwards.
  4. Free up storage. A phone that is almost full can stop browsers saving cache and session data, which shows up as logouts, half-loaded pages and shortcuts that open then close. Aim for at least 1 to 2 GB free.
  5. Update the browser and the system. On Android the shortcut runs on Chrome or your chosen browser, so update it in the Play Store and also update Android System WebView. On iPhone, Safari updates with iOS, so install pending iOS updates. Old browser engines are a common cause of games that refuse to start.
  6. Restart the phone. It clears stuck connections and frees memory.
  7. Try another connection. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data (see below). If one works and the other does not, it is a network block, not a phone fault.

If you can open the site but cannot get past the sign-in screen, the problem is the account session rather than the shortcut; the login problems guide covers 2FA, locked sessions and password resets. If pages open but crawl, see why Stake is slow.

Crashes, freezes and games not loading on mobile

The Stake site itself is light; the games are heavy. Live dealer streams, animated slots and 3D titles all run inside the browser, and a phone short on resources will freeze, reload the tab or drop to the home screen.

Memory

Mobile browsers quietly unload tabs when memory runs low. If Stake reloads every time you switch apps, or a slot restarts mid-session, close other apps and other browser tabs, especially video, maps and games. On older phones, stick to lighter games.

Battery saver and low power mode

Battery saving throttles the processor and limits background activity. That can make animations stutter and cause the connection to drop when the screen dims. Turn off Low Power Mode on iPhone or Battery saver on Android while you play, and keep the screen awake.

Data saver

Data saver modes on Android, Chrome's Lite settings on older versions and some carrier compression tools hold back images and scripts. Game providers' files are large and often blocked by these modes, so the lobby loads but individual games hang on a black screen. Switch data saver off for the browser that runs your shortcut.

WebGL and graphics

Most modern casino games, including Stake's own originals such as Plinko and Crash, draw their graphics with WebGL. If WebGL is disabled or your phone's graphics driver is out of date, games show an error or a blank frame. Updating the browser and system usually fixes it. If one provider's games fail while others work, the issue is that provider, not your phone; try again later or pick another title.

Bets during a crash

If the tab crashes mid-round, the bet is still settled on Stake's side under the game's rules. Reopen the game and check My Bets; the result will be there. Do not repeat a bet on the assumption that the first one failed.

Mobile data versus Wi-Fi

Your phone switches between networks without telling you, and each can treat Stake differently.

  • Home Wi-Fi uses your broadband provider's DNS and routing. If the provider blocks gambling domains, Stake fails on Wi-Fi but may work on mobile data.
  • Mobile data uses your carrier's network. Carriers in some countries filter gambling sites, and some also enable adult-content filters on new or prepaid SIMs by default. Stake can fail on data but work on Wi-Fi.
  • Public, work and school Wi-Fi commonly block gambling sites outright. That is the network owner's rule; use a different connection rather than trying to get around it.

A quick test tells you which it is: turn Wi-Fi off, reload the shortcut on mobile data, then try the reverse. If only one network fails, try a mirror from the list on that network, or set Private DNS on Android (Settings › Network › Private DNS) or an encrypted DNS profile on iPhone, which removes DNS-level blocks. The mirror finding guide walks through this in more detail.

Patchy signal can freeze live streams or log you out, so wait for a strong signal before depositing or withdrawing. If a deposit seems to vanish after a connection drop, see deposit not showing before sending it again.

Mirrors help when a working address is blocked or slow on your network. They are not a way around national restrictions. If Stake does not accept players from your country, follow local law and Stake's terms. Using a VPN to hide your location breaks those terms and can lead to a closed account and withheld funds.

FAQ

Is there a Stake app for Android?

Stake.com has no app in Google Play and does not publish an official APK. On Android you install the site from Chrome with Install app or Add to Home screen, which gives you an icon that opens Stake full screen with the same account and features.

Is the Stake app on the iPhone App Store?

Not for Stake.com. The Stake app you may see on the App Store is for Stake.us, a separate US sweepstakes brand with separate accounts. For Stake.com on iPhone, open the site in Safari and use Share, then Add to Home Screen.

Why does my Stake app keep crashing?

Usually low memory, battery saver, or an out-of-date browser engine. Close other apps, turn off Low Power Mode or Battery saver, update iOS or Chrome and Android System WebView, and restart the phone. Any bet in progress still settles on Stake's side.

Is it safe to download a Stake APK?

No. Stake.com does not distribute an APK, so any file offered under that name comes from someone else and may steal your login, 2FA codes or funds. Use the browser version or a home-screen shortcut created from a trusted address.

My Stake shortcut stopped working but the site opens in the browser. Why?

The shortcut probably points to an older address that has been retired or is blocked on your network, or its cached data is corrupted. Delete the icon, open a working mirror from the live list, and add it to your home screen again.

Do I need to log in again on a mirror?

Yes, once. Sessions are saved per address, so a new mirror does not know you are logged in until you sign in there. Your balance, bets, bonuses and VIP progress are the same on every official address.

Why does Stake work on Wi-Fi but not on mobile data?

Your carrier may be filtering gambling sites or have a content filter switched on for your SIM, while your home broadband does not. Try a mirror on mobile data or turn on Private DNS, and follow local law if Stake is restricted where you live.

Why do some games load but others stay black?

Individual games rely on large files from game providers and on WebGL graphics. Data saver, an old browser or a temporary problem at one provider will stop those games while the lobby still works. Turn off data saver, update your browser and try another title.
