Stake Cameroon
Cameroon licenses online betting under its 2015 gaming law, and local bookmakers fill every street corner in Douala and Yaoundé. Here is where Stake.com fits for Cameroonian players, why it may load slowly, and how people fund an account without a local paybill.

Is Stake legal in Cameroon?
Gambling in Cameroon is governed by Law No. 2015/012 of 16 July 2015 on entertainment games, money games and games of chance, and by Decree No. 2019/2300/PM of 18 July 2019, which sets out how it is applied. Online games need an authorisation from the minister in charge of gaming, and local legal guides describe conditions such as a presence in Cameroon, a large bank guarantee, a .cm domain and payments routed through an approved payment provider.
The penalties in the law are aimed at operators. Running an online game without authorisation can bring six months to two years in prison and a fine of 5 to 25 million CFA francs. We have not found any provision or case that makes it an offence for an adult to bet with a foreign site, and no published blocking list for gambling domains. Stake is not licensed in Cameroon, and its terms do not list Cameroon as a prohibited jurisdiction.
Age is a point to be careful about. The law bars minors from gaming, and civil majority in Cameroon is 21; some local operators therefore apply 21 rather than 18. Stake's own minimum is 18 and it verifies ID.
Reporting on taxes and payment rules for licensed operators has shifted since 2025, including a single approved aggregator for online gaming payments; those rules bind licensed operators rather than players. This page is general information, not legal advice. Follow Cameroonian law and Stake's terms.
Why Stake may not load in Cameroon
We have not found evidence that Cameroonian internet providers run a gambling block list. When Stake.com fails to load on MTN, Orange, Camtel or Nexttel, the usual causes are congested mobile data, a slow international route, DNS trouble on a home router or a filtered office or campus network. Cameroon has also seen regional internet shutdowns in the past, which no mirror can fix.
A mirror is another address for the same Stake platform, with the same login, balance and bet history. The list on this page is timed from your own browser, so the address that responds fastest on your connection rises to the top. Our guide on how to find a working Stake mirror explains how to spot fake copies, and Is Stake down? shows whether the platform itself has a problem.
Mirrors help with ordinary routing problems; they are not a way around any order from the authorities, and you must follow local law. Do not use a VPN to disguise your location: Stake's terms ban it, and accounts that do so can be closed.
How to open Stake in Cameroon with a mirror
- Open this page and wait a few seconds while every mirror is tested from your connection in Cameroon.
- Pick the mirror marked with an asterisk: it answered fastest on the last check.
- Check that the address bar shows exactly the host from the list and a valid HTTPS padlock.
- Log in with your usual Stake account. Balance, history and VIP progress are the same on every mirror.
- If it stops loading later, come back here instead of searching: the list is re-tested on every visit.
Payments in Cameroon
Mobile money runs daily life in Cameroon. MTN MoMo and Orange Money between them handle the vast majority of mobile payments, but an offshore site without a Cameroonian licence cannot plug into them directly. Stake players therefore use crypto: they buy USDT or Bitcoin with MoMo or Orange Money through a peer-to-peer marketplace or an exchange that accepts CFA francs, then send it to their Stake deposit address. Our USDT deposit guide explains why the network choice matters for fees.
A stablecoin balance also sidesteps conversion costs: the CFA franc is pegged to the euro, but buying and selling crypto through P2P traders carries a spread, so fewer round trips mean less lost. MTN launched a virtual Mastercard for MoMo users in December 2025, which may make card on-ramps easier, but whether a card option appears in Stake's cashier varies, so check after logging in.
On P2P trades, use escrow and confirm the MoMo or Orange Money receipt before releasing coins. BEAC and COBAC have warned about crypto risks, and its legal status in the CEMAC zone is unsettled. This is not legal or tax advice.
Popular sports and games in Cameroon
Football is everything. The Indomitable Lions carry five Africa Cup of Nations titles, and the Elite One league with sides such as Coton Sport de Garoua, Canon Yaoundé and Union Douala keeps a loyal following. Most betting volume, though, follows European football: the Premier League, Ligue 1 (where many Cameroonians have played), La Liga and the Champions League. The AFCON and World Cup qualifiers bring the biggest spikes.
Basketball has grown thanks to NBA players of Cameroonian origin, and tennis and MMA draw interest too. On the casino side, quick games such as Stake Crash and Mines suit mobile play, alongside slots and live roulette. Cameroon is on West Africa Time (UTC+1), the same as Paris in winter, so European evening kick-offs land at a comfortable hour. Stake uses decimal odds, which local bookmakers also quote.
