Stake Ecuador
Ecuador moved from talk to rules in 2026: a new regulation makes a national licence the only legal basis for sports-prediction sites, and the SRI has long threatened to block evaders. Here is where Stake.com stands for Ecuadorians, which mirrors work and how players fund an account.

Is Stake legal in Ecuador?
Ecuador banned casinos and gambling halls after the 2011 referendum, but online sports betting, locally called pronósticos deportivos, grew in a legal gap for more than a decade. That gap is closing. Decree 487 of December 2024 created a sports-prediction licence, and the General Regulation of the Ley Orgánica del Deporte (Executive Decree 422, June 2026) set out who may operate: a company domiciled in Ecuador with a tax ID (RUC), audited accounts, certified software, responsible-gambling and age-verification procedures, and an annual fee widely reported at about US$315,000. A July 2026 amendment made the licence the only title that lets an operator offer sports predictions and online games. Licensed operators withhold 15% of prizes for tax.
The regulation also lets the authorities suspend unlicensed platforms and block their domains, apps and payments, working with ARCOTEL, the Central Bank and the SRI. Separately, the SRI applies VAT to online betting services, including when they are bought from abroad by card. Stake is not licensed in Ecuador, though its own terms do not list Ecuador as a prohibited jurisdiction. Nothing we have found makes it an offence for an adult to bet with a foreign site; the rules are aimed at operators and their promoters.
This is general information, not legal advice. Ecuador's rules are moving quickly, so check current guidance, follow local law and respect Stake's terms.
Why Stake may not load in Ecuador
Talk of blocking is not new in Ecuador. In 2023 the SRI said it was studying, with the telecoms ministry and ARCOTEL, how to block the IP addresses of betting sites that refused to register for tax. To our knowledge that threat has not been carried out against Stake or other offshore sites, but the 2026 regulation now gives the authorities an explicit power to block domains of unlicensed operators, so this could change.
Today, when Stake.com fails to load in Ecuador the cause is usually ordinary: a congested mobile network, DNS trouble on a home router, or a filtered office or university connection. A mirror is the same Stake platform on another address, with your account and balance unchanged. The list on this page is timed from your own browser, so the fastest address on your connection appears first. Our Is Stake down? page shows whether the platform itself has a problem.
Mirrors help with routing problems, not with a regulator's order. If Ecuador does block Stake, you must follow the law. Do not use a VPN to hide your location; Stake's terms ban it and accounts can be closed.
How to open Stake in Ecuador with a mirror
- Open this page and wait a few seconds while every mirror is tested from your connection in Ecuador.
- Pick the mirror marked with an asterisk: it answered fastest on the last check.
- Check that the address bar shows exactly the host from the list and a valid HTTPS padlock.
- Log in with your usual Stake account. Balance, history and VIP progress are the same on every mirror.
- If it stops loading later, come back here instead of searching: the list is re-tested on every visit.
Payments in Ecuador
Ecuador uses the US dollar, which makes Stake simple to read: set the display currency to USD and balances match prices at home. Cards issued in Ecuador are often declined for offshore gambling, and card payments to foreign betting sites can attract VAT, so most players use crypto. A common route is to buy USDT or USDC with a bank transfer on a P2P marketplace or an international exchange, then send it to the Stake deposit address. Our USDT deposit guide explains which network keeps fees low.
Stablecoins suit Ecuadorians because they track the same dollar you already spend, so there is no exchange-rate swing between deposit and withdrawal. Bitcoin and Litecoin also work; see our Bitcoin deposit guide. The Central Bank does not recognise crypto as a means of payment, but holding it is not banned.
On P2P trades, use escrow and confirm the bank transfer has arrived before releasing coins. How winnings from an unlicensed foreign site and crypto gains are taxed in Ecuador is not clear-cut; this is not tax advice.
Popular sports and games in Ecuador
Football dominates. LigaPro matches between Barcelona SC and Emelec (the Clásico del Astillero), LDU Quito, Independiente del Valle and Aucas draw the most bets, along with Ecuadorian clubs in the Copa Libertadores and Sudamericana and La Tri's World Cup campaign. European football, especially LaLiga and the Premier League, follows, and cycling has a following thanks to Richard Carapaz.
On the casino side, players try slots, live roulette and Stake Originals such as Crash and Plinko. Mainland Ecuador is on UTC-5 all year (Galápagos UTC-6), so European evening matches kick off in the early afternoon. Stake shows decimal odds, which most Ecuadorian bettors already use.

FAQ
Is Stake legal in Ecuador?
Stake's terms accept players in Ecuador, and the 2026 rules target unlicensed operators rather than players. Stake has no Ecuadorian licence, and the new regulation lets the authorities block unlicensed platforms. This is not legal advice; follow local law.
Has the SRI blocked betting sites in Ecuador?
The SRI has said since 2023 that it could ask for the IP addresses of tax-evading betting sites to be blocked. We have not found that it has done so for Stake. The June 2026 regulation now provides an explicit blocking power, so the position may change.
Can I deposit in US dollars at Stake from Ecuador?
Most players deposit USDT or USDC, which are pegged to the dollar, and set the display currency to USD. Card or bank on-ramps may appear in the cashier, but availability varies.
Do I pay tax on Stake winnings in Ecuador?
Licensed local operators withhold 15% of prizes, but that applies to them, not to Stake. How offshore winnings and crypto gains are taxed is less clear; this is not tax advice.
What is the gambling age in Ecuador?
18. Stake also requires players to be 18 or over and verifies identity.
